About EACMSI

The Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School of Ithaca is more than just a school: it is a dynamic learning and growing community where each student is cherished as our hope for the future. We educate our students to one day step into leadership roles as stewards of the planet and all its beings.

At EACMSI our goal is the creation of a mindful and just society and we hold this goal as our guiding intention in every classroom, every day. As such, relationships are the foundation of an EACMSI education and we develop them with care and vigilance. As one of our recent graduates stated, “…there are levels to everything we do here. The layers that I appreciate the most are the little ones, filled with love.”

EACMSI is more than just a school: it is a dynamic learning and growing community where each student is cherished as our hope for the future.

At EACMSI our goal is the creation of a mindful and just society and we hold this goal as our guiding intention in every classroom, every day.

At EAC we educate our students to one day step into leadership roles as stewards of the planet and all its beings.

Relationships are the foundation of an EACMSI education and we develop them with care and vigilance.

Our programs are designed to maximize each child’s unique potential and to foster cooperative and collaborative work and play. Our integrated school-wide curriculum touches upon every aspect of life on earth and through it children uncover their place in the universe. Our students delve deeply and learn to articulate effectively – they know how to get things done!

Perhaps most importantly, we have fun. The joy of a common purpose, of work well done, of friendships formed and cemented, spill over every threshold and make for a delectable day to day.

Learning and growing continuously

At EACMSI, we start with each child as an individual immersed in a carefully prepared environment, and then continue as the child moves from a state of dependence to one of independence, from a world of my rug/my work to a world that is cooperative and dynamic. We start with each child as an individual and work towards the child as citizen. At EACMSI we do educate children, but even more importantly, we build community.

To be a student at The Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School of Ithaca is to have a childhood worthy of dreams and a wondrous preparation for life.

Who is Elizabeth Ann Clune?

As a three-year old, Elizabeth Ann Clune, a child with Down syndrome, was a student in our preschool classroom. Andrea (her preschool teacher and a founder of our school) taught Elizabeth using the same materials and methods as every other child in her classroom.

Our Faculty

Our faculty is unparalleled in the level of professional excellence they bring to EAC both as individuals and as dynamic members of a collaborative community of adults. The retention rate of our faculty guarantees the continuity and consistency of our programming.
