Wellness Curriculum

The Wellness curriculum introduces our Extended Day and Junior Level students to the values reflected in our school’s broader mission of promoting independence and respecting self, others and the environment.

Mathematics

At EAC, we honor mathematics as a broad and multifaceted subject. It is an art form and has inherent beauty, it reinforces analytical and problem solving skill development, it teaches logic, and (as a language) it enables clear communication across cultures. Most importantly, math is a tool to help students understand and describe the world.

Yearly Traditions

At EAC we believe that the building blocks of a just and mindful society are relationships built on dignity and respect. We actively nurture those relationships in every classroom every day and, once per month, by coming together as a whole school in celebration of community.

Anti-bias

Anti-bias curriculum supports children as they develop a sense of identity in a diverse society. It helps them learn to be proud of themselves and their families, respect a range of human differences, recognize unfairness and bias, and speak up for the rights of others.

40th Anniversary

Being 40 means a depth of experience that we can call upon, and we do so regularly. We pay attention to our institutional memory and have structures in place to continue bringing the School’s history forward.

Music

The overriding goal of the EAC Music Program is to create lifelong musicians. The journey begins on day one as each student is considered to be a musician before they even walk through our doors!

Performing Arts

At EAC, skills in performance and public speaking are practiced in every classroom throughout the school year with the goal of giving children the skilsl and confidence to express themselves articulately in front of teachers, peers, the school community and ultimately the larger community.

Physical Education

The physical education curriculum engages students from Extended Day through Middle School, and promotes learning and joy through a broad range of sports and physical activities.

Language & Literature

English language and literature study develops an essential skill in the EAC student- to be an excellent receiver and transmitter of information. We anchor language study in Montessori pedagogy; the prepared environment and explicit lessons in spoken language, phonemic awareness, writing, and reading. EAC students become effective and engaging communicators.

Classroom Observations

The best way to get a sense of who we are and how we do things is to observe a classroom in action.
