Our Approach

EAC pedagogy is child-centered, hands on, individualized and serves the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.

Our Students

Our curriculum begins with the child at 3 years old and continues seamlessly until graduation at 14–15 years of age. Our integrated course of study spirals through interrelated topics repeatedly over time.

Big Buddies & Leadership

Leadership experiences are plentiful at EAC, in large part because of our multi-age classrooms and because as builders and shapers of community we want all of our students, from youngest to oldest, to have the opportunity to engage with each other in meaningful ways.

Mini-Courses

Shortly after Memorial Day, during the last two full weeks of school, children and adults come together to pursue mutual interests in groupings not predicated by age or class placement. It is our way to channel the end of school energy into a productive and fun alternative for all.

Media Literacy

We consider media literacy to be the 21st century extension of the Practical Life curriculum that is the cornerstone of an EAC education. To prepare children for their world requires an education that gives them the tools to decode and encode messages of all kinds.

After School Clubs

After-School clubs provide an avenue for our older students to cultivate current interests or develop new passions through exploration. Clubs provide a dedicated time and space for like minded students to engage in shared goals and activities under the guidance of adult mentors.

After School Care

Our Before and After-School programs provide a balance of structured and unstructured activities that center cooperative and collaborative play in a relaxed, safe and nurturing setting.

Programs

In addition to our robust core curriculum, ancillary programming adds further depth to the overall school experience.

Middle School

The goal of our program is to assist the adolescent in awakening and defining their adult self through meaningful work amidst a community of learners. We guide young people on their journey toward becoming empowered, independent and contributing adults.
