Upper Level – June 2013
Upper Level Notes – June 6, 2014
Upper Level picnic – Wednesday, June 18th
Upper Level students will be having a picnic on Wednesday, June 18th at Terry’s house (121 Brook Way, Ithaca). We will leave school at 11:15 a.m. and return by 2:15 p.m. Students should arrive at school wearing sunscreen! They will need a picnic lunch, a towel and a swim suit. If your child will need an additional application of sunscreen, please complete and return the sunscreen permission form. Please email (email@example.com) or call (277-7335) the school office if you can drive and/or chaperone this event. Thank you!
Upper Level Graduation – Thursday, June 19th – 9:30 a.m.
We’d like to invite parents of Upper Level students to attend Upper Level Graduation on Thursday, June 19th at 9:30 a.m. in the Andrea B. Riddle Center. Please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call (277-7335) the school office if you plan to attend. Thank you!
Please arrive at school at 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning. It is not helpful to arrive earlier as the buses will not be there.
We will be replacing our traditional phone tree with an email contact on Thursday. After we cross the border and know we are 3-4 hours away, an email will be sent to confirm our arrival time back at EAC. We are expecting to arrive around 9:30 but the time at the border can vary significantly. Please check your email before coming to Montessori on Thursday night to get any updates on arrival time.
Just before arriving students will be given passports and birth certificates to put into backpacks. Please check before leaving the school that you have this important item returned. If you need any medications given to us for the trip for the weekend, please see me. If not I will return any medications to our nurses and you may get them from Kelly and Nancy after the Memorial Day break.
We have had some feedback that the local bank have had some challenges and issues with the money exchange. If you and your child have not been able to exchange money for the trip, don’t worry. There is a place to exchange money at the border and another spot in the area of Old Quebec we will be in. We will support those students who need to do this. Sorry for this inconvenience. It has not been an issue in the past.
If you have any questions or need to give me any last minute information please feel free to email email@example.com or call 227-4247. Though my cell phone will be on at all times during the trip for emergency contacts, it will be better to text me as the cost of minutes is very high. I will then call or text you back. The weather forecast does have the possibility of rain for some of the days. Please be sure to pack appropriate rain gear. Since temperatures will range from low 40’s to 60’s, I have asked the students to leave shorts and no-sleeve shirts at home. We save that for Williamsburg next year. It is critical that students are warm for an often chilly climate with winds off the cold St. Lawrence River.
See you all bright and early Monday! Terry

Many parents have asked about contacting their children during the trip since students cannot have cell phones. You may call into the hotel mornings from 7:00 – 7:30 a.m. or in the afternoons before dinner on the nights that we return to the hotel. The Delta Quebec Hotel phone number is (418)647-1717. Please do not call at bedtime for several reasons. First students are being encouraged to get to sleep and get their rest. For some students in a room, it may be past their usual bedtime when we return and they need quiet. This can also be a difficult time if your child tends to get homesick because he/she is already tired. Some rooms may be using the time for a quick check-in on their projects. If you are concerned that you cannot reach your child, you can always call the school office and they will relay a message to me. Thanks for your patience with this.
All paperwork for the trip should already be complete and submitted to Terry and/or the school nurses:
*Students need either a passport or an original/certified copy of a birth certificate
*Chaperones traveling on the bus may use either a passport or an enhanced driver’s license
*ICSD Out of Town Medical Release
*medical treatment authorization form
Other important information:
Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Terry via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or via cell (607.227.4247).
Things you should know…
There are children in our school with a LIFE THREATENING allergy to peanuts and/or tree nuts! We must require that all families refrain from including ANY nut products in snacks and lunches. We understand that this restriction may be an inconvenience and thank you in advance for your support with this critical issue!
If you would like your child to participate in any additional school programs, please complete and return the appropriate form.
